Bite Size Coaching
Byte Size Coaching is customized, complete age- and developmentally-specific training tool purchased by FWSA to assist our coaches who have little or no formal certification as a coach. The overall objective of the program is to keep it simple and appropriate and is designed to help time-challenged coaches. The program assists the coach in their enjoyment of "coaching" by providing sessions that are fun, developmentally-stimulating to the children and develops for all a "Love for the Game."
Evaluate your Referee
The Federal Way Soccer Referee Association (FWSRA) has an evaluation form set up on their website at Evaluate an Official. It would help FWSRA better train their referees if you would take the time to fill one out for each of the Federal Way games you've attended.
Will My Game Have Referees?
The South King County Soccer Referees Association (SKCSRA) has now updated their website so that coaches have the ability to see if their particular game has referee(s) or not. It will not tell who the referee(s) are, just if the game has referee(s) assigned. Go to www.skcsra.org; click on “Information”; then “Match Inquiry”. In the box above the client column type “FWSA”; in the box above the level column type your age bracket (example: U10). You must have a zero before single age years such as U07, U08, & U09). Then click on the “Show” button to the right. If a green circle with OK in the middle appears, then the game has a referee. If there is a blue square with a circle in it then there is no referee assigned as yet.
You can now check this website before you leave for your game so you will know if you need to be prepared to supply your own referee.

Referees
ALL Levels of the Federal Way Soccer Games are assigned through the SKCSRA website.
Our system is a ‘Self-Assigning’ one that enables you to choose the games that fit you the best… Our Assignors will monitor the games you take to make sure your experience level is inline with the game(s) to ensure that the players will benefit from having you as a referee for their game.
Starting in September, the FWSRA will have Monthly Meetings the third Wednesday of each month at Saghalie Middle School. (See FWSRA Calendar) Please note the dates on your calendar so you can obtain your required training hours. Remember, you need to have five (5) hours of continuing referee education/training each year in order re-certify annually. FWSRA will have one monthly meeting (Third Wednesday of November) to conduct re-certification written testing.
FWSRA will offer a Grade 8 Referee Clinic in the spring and fall. Please refer to the FWSRA Calendar for details of location and dates. Please let your friends and relatives know about the clinic so they can get pre-registered on line at FWSRA Clinics to become a referee. We need adults as well as youth referees so encourage everyone you know. It is very important that clinic participants pre-register through the online system so that we can make sure to have enough staff on hand to accommodate the size of the clinic.
We at FWSRA strive to provide the very best in referees here in Federal Way and with your continued support we can obtain that goal. Thank you for supporting soccer in Federal Way.
