Meeting called to order at 7:06 PM by Heather Hamashima – President

 

Quorum present - A quorum of the club shall consist of six (6) Board members, with at least three (3) of them being elected officers. Sign-In sheet attached.

Guest Speaker

Designer Portrait Studio – Mark Bryce

•        Located in Lake Stevens

•        Open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

•        Photographs sports leagues, high school, elementary and other events

•        Will have enough photographers so that each team will only take 15 minutes

•        Will schedule the team pictures if requested

•        The league will receive $4 for each player that purchase pictures

•        They will provide a free memory mate for each player that receives a scholarship

•        Each coach on the team will receive a 8 x 10 team picture

•        Each team will receive a sponsor plaque if they have a sponsor, if not the company will donate $3 back to the league

•        Will receive the pictures back in two weeks and will be organized by the coaches name

•        Topps trading cards are available with three of  their picture packages

•        Photographers have been background checked

•        Photographers will wear “Photo Staff” red vest at picture day

•        Have the ability to do multiple picture days during the week and Saturday

•        Online ordering available for family members out of state

•        Parents can pay online and bring the receipt to picture day

•        On Jamboree Day can come and shoot photos for free so that we can use the pictures on our website

•        Need to book early because they are starting to fill up

•        No backdrops available they use tents and natural setting

      Action:  Kimberly Miller-Olson will email Mark in the morning with questions

1.       Ask Mark for a reference and we will contact them?

2.       Ask if they will provide a picture disc so that Sharon Woodford can download the pictures to the website?

3.       Ask do they have dates available on Saturday September 11 & September 18?

4.       Ask can they schedule our pictures on Sunday?

Action:  Kimberly Miller-Olson will contact Legends and ask the following questions

1.       Will they give scholarship players a free picture package?

2.       How much are we receiving back for each player that orders pictures?

3.       Are they able to schedule our pictures on Sunday?

•        After Kimberly Miller-Olson has talked to both companies she will email the board and we will discuss our options by email

Officer’s Report

President – Heather Hamashima

•        Watched spring games at Sacajawea on April 11

•        There were chairs on the turf fields

      Action:  Sharon Woodford will email coaches that the following are not allowed on turf fields:      food, chairs, benches, drinks, and dogs.

      Action:  Each team needs to bring trash bags and take their trash with them when they leave

 

Vice President – Eric Poortvliet

•        Watched spring league GU9 & GU10 games on April 11 at Sacajawea and Decatur

•        Referees did a great job

 

Field Coordinator – Eric Poortvliet

•        Need to purchase four sets of U7 goals

•        Need to order one set of U10 nets

•        $2,000 budget for goals

•        Had a lot of help setting up the fields for spring league

•        Everyone picked up their cones and disc

      Action:  Eric Poortvliet will talk to Perry Woodford about goals that have been ordered in the       past and what we should order

 

Scheduler – Sharon Woodford

•        All games have been scheduled

 

Referee – Judy Simone-Johnson, not present

•        Report attached

 

Old Business

Uniform Update – Kimberly Miller-Olson

•        Maple Valley orders their uniforms by age group not by individual players

•        They use Protime Sports and order jerseys and balls

•        They distribute the uniforms with the coaches packets

•        They don’t provide referees for their games

      Suggestion:  We will use what we have in the shed for this year and let our players keep the       uniform at the end of the season.  If we run short for this season we will order more

      Action:  Next year, will set registration fees to include uniforms (jersey & ball)

      Action:  Kimberly Miller-Olson will contact Maple Valley about registration fees

      Action:  Check with Soccer West about the cost of shorts and socks

 

Spring Soccer Sessions:  U6 – U7 and U8 – U9

•        U7 & U8 clinic cancelled

 

New Business

Proposed Budget – Sandy Bjork

•        The proposed budget was presented by Sandy Bjork

•        Registration fees will stay the same for Fall 2010

      Motion:  Sharon Woodford moved that the proposed budget be approved.  Seconded.      Discussion.  Carried.

 

Community Soccer Proposal – Heather Hamashima

•        Scott Nelson emailed the Mod and United board a proposal to increase participation in soccer

•        We need to increase numbers and think outside the box

•        Scott Nelson will need an advertising budget

•        The board decided to create a Community Soccer Proposal Committee

•        Sandy Bjork will chair the Community Soccer Proposal Committee

      Action:  Sandy Bjork and committee will set up a meeting with Scott Nelson to talk about his        proposal.  Email Sandy Bjork any questions you may have for Scott Nelson about the proposal

      Action:  Sandy Bjork will contact Rob Walker about the proposal

 

Tracy Whitney – Sharon Woodford

•        Will be the same weekends as last year

•        Have been talking with the Kent Soccer Association about cross over games for U9 & U10

•        Will have cross over games with Kent, Auburn and Maple Valley for U9 & U10 during the 2nd half of our season

•        First half of the season we will play in-house games

      Action:  Sharon Woodford will continue working with Kent, Auburn, and Maple Valley

 

Mod Calendar for 2010 – Heather Hamashima

•        Need to add coaches clinic dates

•        Will ask Rob Walker or Scott Nelson to run coaches clinics and give them a stipend

•        Clinics for Coaches

1.       July 18th for U7 – U10 coaches

2.       August 9 for U6 coaches

•        Coaches will receive their coaches packet and team uniforms at the end of the coaches clinic

      Action:  Heather Hamashima will talk with Rob Walker about scheduling clinics for coaches

      Action:  At the May meeting, discuss the scheduling for September through November for           coaches clinics, practices, etc.  We want to include a calendar in the packet for coaches

      Action:  At the May meeting, discuss age group training at the same fields.  If anyone has           suggestions on how to best implement this type of training email Heather Hamashima.     

 

Good of the Game

•        Mod Summer camp is scheduled for June 21 – 24 from 8:30 – 11:30 AM at Saghalie Middle School.  Cost is $80
