Meeting called to order at 7:13 PM by Eric Poortvliet – Vice President

 

Quorum present - A quorum of the club shall consist of six (6) Board members, with at least three (3) of them being elected officers. Sign-In sheet attached.

 

Minutes

•        Correction: Last page – next meeting should be August 10, 2009 instead of September 14, 2009

•        Motion:  Sharon Woodford moved to approve the minutes as corrected.  Seconded.  Discussion.  Carried.

•        Minutes approved as corrected.   

 

Treasurer Report – Sandy Bjork

•        Presented the treasurer report.

•        Paid $13,098 to FWSA for registration fees.

•        Paid $13,004 for Saghalie bill.

 

Girls Registrar – Michele Magruder

•        Completed assigning players to teams and will do the final team assignments.

 

Equipment Coordinator – Eric Poortvliet

•        Didn’t have to move the equipment for the Blast Off Tournament.

•        Need goals for match games.

•        Have 2 sets of U10 goals at Camelot.

•        Will move the set from Silverlake to Lakota.

      Action:  Eric will follow-up with George Pfeiffer about purchasing goals for the U10        Development League.

 

Sharon Woodford – Match and Events Coordinator

•        Heard from all coordinators regarding their age group.

•        BU7 needs another coach.  Kirk Lilleskare will also coach a team.

•        U6 teams will receive their schedules after Sharon returns from vacation.

•        Maintaining game fields.

1.       Enterprise (U6) – one team scheduled and will need another to assist.

2.       Mirror Lake (U7) – two teams maintaining the field (Kings & Wolfpack).

3.       Mark Twain (U8) – Red Racers and would like one more team to assist.

4.       Lakota & Camelot (U9 & U10) – two teams per location to maintain the fields.  Thunder and Cindy Flanagan team at Camelot.  Special Forces and Strikers at Lakota.

•        Will talk to the U10 Junior Development team about maintaining a field.

•        We have very few U9 & U10 teams so there may only be one team practicing on the field at a time.

•        Sharon Woodford made the suggestion that some of the teams move from Lakota to Adelaide because of construction and limited parking at Lakota.

Action:  GU8 Wildcats may move their practices to Adelaide.  

•        Practice fields are ready to post on the website. 

      Action:  Sharon Woodford will post practice fields schedules on the Federal Way soccer website.

 


Sandy Bjork – Ways and Means

•        Will order the chocolate for the candy fundraiser.

•        Discussed players selling more than one box will receive $10.00 off of spring registration for each extra box sold up to $50.00 per registered player.

Action:  Sandy Bjork will have the information available for parents when the candy is distributed.  

 

Picture Coordinator – Kim Hurn, not present

•        Sharon Woodford presented her report.

•        Legend’s emailed Kim Hurn and Sharon Woodford a link to put on our website about the pictures.

•        Parents can go on-line and pre-order pictures.

•        Kim Hurn and Sharon Woodford will work together to schedule picture times for teams.

•        Picture dates:

1.       September 12 – U10, U9, U8

2.       September 19 – U7, U6 and newly formed teams

•        Have 8 teams and trying to form one more

•        Have 7 teams and trying to form another team but 6 girls short.

•        Missing paperwork for players

Derek Bettge (GU8 Wildcats Coach)

•        Request that the board approves ordering new uniforms for his team.

1.       Mod logo on the front

2.       Number on the back

3.       Uniforms will be black and white

•        Motion:  Sharon moved that the board approves the uniform choice.  Seconded.  Discussion.  Carried.

•        Another good place to purchase uniforms is Pro-time in Tukwila just north of Rich’s Spas.  $13.00 - $16.00 per kit which includes a jersey, shorts and socks.

 

Jamboree

•        Sunday, August 30 from 12:00 – 5:00 PM.

•        U7 – U10 participating.

•        Free jamboree.

•        Will have referees.

•        Coaches are not allowed on the field.

•        Have four quarters so that coaches can train the players.

•        Will use turf and football fields at Saghalie.  

•        Planning on 2 games per team.

      Action:  Sharon Woodford will email the coaches about the jamboree.  Email will say one game   (Preseason Event).  Respond by Saturday, August 15.

      Action:  Sharon Woodford will also send a schedule to Judy Simone-Johnson so that she can                    schedule the referees.

      Deadline is September 1 for turning in the registration form and fees

      Action:  Sharon Woodford will email all the U9 & U10 teams about the deadline.

•        U6 – U8

      October 3 & 4

      Look at the website for the deadline to turn in the registration form and fees

•        No PDL teams are allowed in the Tracy Whitney.        

 

Good of the Game

 

Eric Poortvliet

•        Sounders were at the Fred Meyer in Federal Way.

•        The Sounders signed autographs and played soccer with kids at the event.
