Meeting called to order  at 7:07 PM

 

Heather  Hamashima - welcomed everyone.

 

Alvin Leung presentation:   Congratulations Team Cougars Fall 2007

•        10 minute presentation of the 2007 Cougars

•        He will take team pictures, photos and videos for mod soccer teams.

 

Approval of Minutes

•        March 10, April 12 and August 11, 2008

•        Motion: Approve all 3 sets of minutes.  Seconded. Passed.

 

President’s Report – Heather Hamashima

•        1st week went well, games ran smoothly, and uniforms arrived on time.  Thank you Helena Curette.

•        Not all games have had referees but will have full coverage for the rest of the season.

•        A case of balls disappeared from storage unit. 50 balls, size 4.  Balls can be returned to Heather’s house with no questions asked. The combination lock has been changed at the shed.

 

Vice President Report – Cory Zimmer

•        Working on setting up another coach’s clinic with the help of Rob Walker.

•        A coach’s clinic for U6 and new coaches will be announced next week.

 

Secretary Report

•        Not present

 

Treasurer Report – Sandy Bjork

•        $25,000 due to the association for Saghalie fields.

•        Purchasing goals and nets.

•        Haven’t paid other half of players fees

•        Bank balance looks good but will go down once the fees for fields have been paid.

•        Buying U9 goals per Eric Poortvliet.

 

2nd VP of Administration – Cory Zimmer

•        Cory Zimmer and Heather Hamashima are working on an e-mail that will be sent to the current mod coaches.

•        Coaches and parents should not confront the referee. If you have a problem with a referee, fill out the referee evaluation form that is available on line.

•        Coaches are responsible for their sidelines and parents/players confronting the referee.

•        Use fields that are assigned to you for games and practices.  Do not use Karl Grosch Field at Steel Lake.

•        U6 and U7 no goalies. 3rd player can’t camp infront of the goal.

•        If one of the team’s score is high – come up with a creative way to use your players to help the other team. It is about developing players.

 

Referee coordinator – Judy Simone-Johnson

•        Thank you to the coaches for their help since they didn’t have a referee at their game on Saturday.

•        Sharon Woodford and Judy Simone-Johnson will try to let the coaches know if they won’t have a referee for their Saturday games.

•        Entry level referee clinic in September.  Must attend all 6 days to be reimbursed.

•        Always looking for adult referees.  (children 13yo and under, will need a parent to attend with them. Children over 13yo can take the class alone).

•        Judy received 3 referee evaluations forms from the weekend and she has talked to 2 of the referees this week.

•        Can give positive evaluations for the referees.

•        Coaches should not allow anyone to coach behind the goal area.

 

 

Fields Coordinator – Eric Poortvliet

•        All fields are lined.  2 - Enterprise, 2 - Mirror Lake, 2 - Mark Twain, 1 – Lake Grove, 1 – Silver Lake and 1 – Camelot.

•        There are new nets at Silver Lake.

•        In the process of purchasing U9 nets.

•        Remind parents to bring trash bags to their games so that they can pickup trash when their game is over.   

•        Paint – ordered 36 cases of paint, have 6 liners out and 6 liners in the storage. 

•        Buying U10 Tekk goals for the Tracy Whitney.  Will have 3 U9 and U10 fields set up at Tracy Whitney.

•        Boys and girls club has requested to buy 6 cases of paint again this fall.

•        Request from coach – please put numbers on the fields (example #1 or #2)

•        Do not attach anything to the goals.

•        Request from coach – move field #2 back to where it was last year because of the slant.  Last year it was a U6 field.  #3 is flat so change it field #2.  There are concerns about the baseball fields and gophers.

 

Equipment Coordinator – Helena Curette

•        Not present

•        Has inventoried the shed and ordered uniforms.

•        Comment from coach – did an excellent job of distributing uniforms.

•        Will email coaches about returning uniforms from last year.

 

Match and Event Coordinator – Sharon Woodford

•        League schedules have been posted on the website.

 

Webmaster – Sharon Woodford

•        Will attempt to update the webpage this month.

 

Old Business

•        6 people are interested in being on the Registration committee  – please let Eric Poortvliet or Heather Hamashima know if you are interested. The task of the committee is to look at the registration process and how to make it run smother.

•        Parents can request a scholarship if needed.

 

Team Photos

•        Teams have been scheduled.

•        Parents can pay for team photos online in advance.

 

Fundraiser Candy Sales – Sharon Woodford

•        Sharon will be at Steel Lake on Saturday during team pictures to distribute fundraiser candy to the teams.

•        Coaches: one of your of kids can have their registration fee waived but must participate in the fundraiser or buyout.

•        12:30 – 1:45 PM – will need help with the candy distribution.  

•        There are 50 candy bars in a box and the player must turn in $50 per box.  No partial boxes will be accepted.  

•        Will collect money at the Tracy Whitney Jamboree both weekends.

•        Fundraiser is over the final weekend of Tracy Whitney

 

Board Meeting – October – FWSA, FWU, FWMSC – Heather Hamashima

•        Had a retreat last December with the 3 clubs

•        Met in January about action items from retreat

•        Parent action committee – will be formed to support the different clubs and activities.  Would like to have a parent representative at each school and also work with the PTA.

•        Next meeting – October 1, 2008

•        Notes posted on the website.

•        Communicate, communicate, communicate

 

Sportmanship Awards –  Heather Hamashima

•        Encouraging kids to have good sportsmanship. Each month the club will announce a player for the award and recognition.  

•        Photo of team on the website.

•        Nominations can come from parents, coaches and the board.

 

Tracy Whitney

•        Need volunteers for registration and helping to set up and line the fields.

•        Placed an ad in the Play On magazine.

•        Up 13 outside teams this year.

•        U9 & U10 schedules will be posted on the website.

•        U6 & U7  applications & money are due September 12. If the team decides not to play in the Tracy Whitney – they will have a buy for the weekend.

•        No concessions this year.

•        Kids will receive granola bars.  

•        Talked to a company that wanted us to hand out cookies and milk.  

•        No referees for the U6 games.

•        TShirt and sweatshirts will be sold.

 

Transition of U10 teams from Mod to FWU

•        Handout information to parents about the United club before the mod season ends.

•        United will possibly have a meeting in January for parents with kids moving up to United.  

•        Let Heather and Cory know if you need assistance with the transition.

•        United coaching staff evaluates the players that will try out for select teams. Storm – boys and Reign – girls.

•        District teams– no selection process

•        The season is shifting for U11 – U18.  Tryouts probably won’t be until June.  Will receive more information later.

Spring League

•        New format last spring. Heather Hamashima, Cory Zimmer and Rob Walker will work on the format for this spring. They would like input from parents and coaches about last springs format.

 

Good of Game

•        Gave Heather Hamashima a gift card for Applebee’s for all her hard work.

 

Motion – U8 team requested to purchase light blue uniforms – Tricia Lewis. 2nd.  Discussion:  Must have mod logo on it.  Passed.
