MATCH AND EVENT COORDINATOR: Sharon Woodford-not present-sent report via email

Lighted Field Time:  Because of the poor weather which caused many make-up games, baseball did not release their fields until November 2nd; one week before the end of the season.  This was quite a hardship to many of the Mod teams.  Next year I will again try to get lighted field time for the Mod Club but we are at the mercy of baseball since we use their fields.  I would like to propose ending the season next year one week earlier, on Saturday November 1st, before daylight savings ends.

Spring League:  Here is the current plan for the 2008 Mod Spring League:

February 1st: On-line player registration open.

March 6th: Team registration deadline.  Player registrations will be accepted after this time on a space available basis only.

March 7th: Practice schedule signups will be posted.

March 10th: Practices may begin.

April 6th – June 8th: Games.  No games on Memorial Day weekend.  Teams have the option for a bye on Mothers Day.

Notes:

1.      I would like to get the Board’s opinion on the possibility of playing spring games on Saturdays instead of Sundays.  Spring was originally scheduled on Sundays so that baseball players could also play spring soccer.  However, with our steady decline of boy’s teams I have the feeling that children who are playing baseball are choosing to not play soccer in the spring.  If we played on Saturdays then we would not have church issues.  Of course, this is all dependant of field availability since we use FWU fields so Saturday may not even be an option….just thinking.

a.       We discussed this and decided against it.

2.      I have been talking with the President of Norpoint on having a combined spring league.  This would be a great opportunity for the Federal Way teams to play different teams.    Jon is very interested and was going to present it at his November 7th Board meeting.  I have not heard the outcome of that meeting.

a.       We discussed this and thought it was a good idea.

OLD BUSINESS:

Sharon sent the following via email-

Proposed 2008 Mod Club Calendar: Revised the following items:

1.      Have all Tracy Whitney applications due on September 1st.  This will help with ordering the medals.

2.      Fall season end on November 1st, before daylight savings time ends.  This will help with light at practices.

·        We discussed the proposed calendar and decided that we want to keep the season the same; we will just let coaches know that there will be no practice after October 31st due to daylight savings.

·        We will also add training days for Rob to train in mod

GOOD OF THE GAME:
