PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Stephanie Knapp
- We
only had a couple of spring issues.
One issue was that some teams did not show up. We discussed having the team that does
not show up pay the fees for the field, referee, etc.
- Discussed
letting the coaches know that they will be charged for not showing up in the spring and fall.
- We
need to get something on the web site stating the process for what to do
if your team needs to cancel a game for any reason.
VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Mary Ward –not present
SECRETARY –
Yvette Gregg
Nothing to report
TREASURER – Kathy Barnes
Balance as of April 31st is $99,108.46
- More Spring money is still coming in.
- Kathy
needs to sit with Stephanie to discuss the budget.
- A U9
team registered as U8 (the team is playing up), but the U8 registration
fee is $50 and the U9 registration fee is $55.
- GU7
have checks but no registration forms to see who paid and who did not.
- We
need to remind the coordinators about what needs to be turned in.
- Stephanie
will check to see if voted in board members do not have to pay for one of
the child’s registration fee.
- We
still haven’t gotten the Legends kick back money from the fall.
- There
have been no returned checks from Spring (yet J)
- Kathy
noticed that a team was wearing maroon uniforms, which are not one of the
mod soccer colors. Stephanie will
contact them.
BOYS REGISTRAR

met with Sharon and went over the flier for the fall.
- Once
the flier is approved through the schools we will need to send out an

schools.

2nd VICE PRESIDENT OF
ADMINISTRATION – Ken Landreth
REFEREE COORDINATOR – Judy Simone Johnson
- There
were come problems about different coaches yelling at referees.
- Referees
association offered coaches clinics in March and only 5 coaches showed
up.
- Asked
if they (Mike Franco and Craig Eley) can do another overview of the rules
at the coaches meeting in May.
FIELDS COORDINATOR- Eric Poortvliet-not present
EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR – Open Position
.
MATCH AND EVENT COORDINATOR: Kristina Okezie
WAYS AND MEANS (FUNDRAISING)-Kimberly
Miller
- Kimberly discussed the fact that she couldn’t get
fundraising money turned in although she tried many different ways. It has been a big problem.
- We discussed different ways to increase fees across
the board to make up the money lost from the fundraiser if we choose to
stop doing the fundraiser. Some
examples were to raise the registration and Tracey Whitney fees. We can also make a profit at Tracey
Whitney by “selling” field names to local businesses. (example,
instead of a field being named Italy, it could be named after a local
business to advertise for that business).
- See “New Business” for motions that were passed due
to the fundraiser discussion.
WEBMASTER –
Sharon Woodford
NEW BUSINESS:
- Alex
from the U8 Dragons brought up that on Mother’s Day, all the gates at
Decatur were closed and there were games scheduled that day.
- He
asked about referees and how they are evaluated and how coaches can
evaluate them after a game.
- He
also wondered what we have in place for new coaches in regards to
sportsmanship issues.
- Because
of discussions about fundraising, there were two motions brought to the
table.
- Motion
to no longer have a fundraiser for a trial year starting in Fall 2007.
Motion was 2nd and approved.
- Motion
to increase registration fee by $15 for fall 2007. Motion was 2nd and
approved.
- Gary
Haven will be approached about doing corporate sponsorship.
- We
need to come up with a way to reach different cultures to come play soccer
for us.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Jesse
Hamashima will find out what the sign laws are in Federal Way.
- Mod
is going to be paying half for the signs and United will pay the other
half. The Association is paying
the bill and then billing mod and united.
GOOD OF THE GAME:
- June
11 from 6-9 is the coaches meeting at ESC.
We will have the mod meeting on the same night from 6-7.
- Bonzai
is open from June 1-August 1
- We had
another discussion about how we are going to bridge the gap between United
and Mod and discussed how we can better train parent coaches.
Meeting adjourned at 9:35.
Next meeting will be held at the Federal Way District Office at 6:00pm
on June 11, 2007.
