BOARD MEETING MINUTES
July 6, 2007
The meeting of the Federal Way Modified Soccer Club was
called to order by President Stephanie Knapp at 7:07 on Monday, July 6 at Panera Bread in Federal Way.
The Attendees included:
Yvette Gregg-Mod Secretary Novella
Fraser-Boys Registrar
Eric Poortvliet-BU10 coord. Cory Zimmer-2nd VP
of Admin.
Stephanie Knapp-Mod Pres. Jesse Hamishima-FWU Pres.
Coaches: 5 coaches
A Quorum was not achieved.
( A Quorum of the club shall consist of 6 (six)
board members with at least 3 (three) of them being elected officers.)
May minutes were not approved because a quorum was not
achieved.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Stephanie Knapp
- Discussed
an issue on a team in which there was a disruptive parent. The parent was contacted by
Stephanie. The team is going to
turn in their roster with out the player on the team.
VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Mary Ward-not present
SECRETARY – Yvette Gregg
- Received
a flier from the Seattle Sounders and will send the information to Sharon
to post on the web site.
- Also
discussed that elected board members and coaches do not have to pay the
registration fee for one of their children playing soccer.
TREASURER – Kathy Barnes- not present
- Sent

BOYS REGISTRAR – Novella Fraser
- Our
BU-7 coordinator resigned one so we’re looking for a new one.
- Coaches
Packets are due to Novella, but she will be out of town so we discussed
moving the turn in date one week earlier or one week later. Possibly move the meeting to July 26th,
and then collect the late ones when she gets back into town. We need the coordinators to be at the
meeting for coaches to turn their packets in.
- There
are 10 confirmed teams at U-9, and possibly up to 13 teams.

GIRLS REGISTRAR- open position
2nd VICE PRESIDENT OF
ADMINISTRATION – Cory Zimmer

Had a complaint that a girls U9 team had 8
players and had a 9th player play in the last few games who was not
registered.
o Discussed
possibly sending a letter to the coach about the issue of liability and remind
them about the registration process.

Cory will attend the Tracey Whitney tournament
and observe different coaches.
·
Yvette will email Kimberly about spearheading
the fundraiser for the TW tournament, and tell her to call Cory who will help
with that.

Also discussed encouraging coaches and parents
to get their E license. It’s only $25,
and the club will reimburse you if you pass.
REFEREE COORDINATOR – Judy Simone Johnson-not present
FIELDS COORDINATOR- Eric Poortvliet
- There
were no issues. He received all of
the keys to the different locks.
- He
will check on how much paint they have and how much they need to order.
- U-10
goals are not locked up at Decatur yet.
- He
will go by and inventory the nets and what not to see if there is anything
damaged.
- Eric
would like a volunteer to act as an assistant to help him out.
EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR – Girls-open position
EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR- Boys- Bob Gonzalez-not present
- He
needs to put an order in for equipment
- Discussed
possibly ordering balls for each kid.

MATCH AND EVENT COORDINATOR: Kristina Okezie-not present
WEBMASTER –
Sharon Woodford
NEW BUSINESS:
- There
was a request from a U-10 team to play up to United.
OLD BUSINESS:
GOOD OF THE GAME:
- Jesse
Hamashima discussed how rec sports have been going
down a lot. He’s concerned that
we’re not doing a good job recruiting at the lower level and not
maintaining at the higher level. He
wants to create better communication and we need a better presence (ex.
Signage)
- He
also said that we need to better train coaches at the lower level.
- We
want to create kids who want to play soccer for a lifetime sport because
they love the game.
- He
also discussed the possible reorganization and combing of United and Mod.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:47pm. Next meeting will be on August 13th
from 7-8:30. Place TBD.
