BOARD MEETING MINUTES

February 12, 2007

 

The meeting of the Federal Way Modified Soccer Club was called to order by President Stephanie Knapp at 7:07 on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Round Table Pizza in Federal Way.

 

The Attendees included:

A Quorum was achieved.  ( A Quorum of the club shall consist of 6 (six) board members with at least 3 (three) of them being elected officers.)

 

Minutes from November 2006 and January 2007 were approved.

 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Stephanie Knapp

  • More insufficient fund checks were given to Stephanie, she will follow up
  • She went to the WSYSA board meeting.  Discussed the license plate program with half $ going to our program, and the other half going to the state.  We need to get signatures to start it and will have signature pages available at the coaches meeting next month. 
  • Discussed the open positions.  We need to fill the field’s coordinator and the girl’s registrar ASAP because of Spring League coming up.

 

VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Mary Ward

  • Mary attended FWSA meeting-Items that were discussed 
    • The Lake Geneva bill is coming due with 40% of the bill being mod soccer’s responsibility.
    • The secretary position is open
    • Bills on Beamer and Decatur turf are coming due
    • George Pfieffer wants to meet with the treasurers from Mod, United, and FWSA on Wednesday, Feb. 14th. 
    • The new web site should be up soon
    • The soccer fair is in April at the Tacoma Convention Center
    • Mary will call Legends about our kick back check.

 

SECRETARY – Yvette Gregg

TREASURER – Kathy Barnes

  • $88,741.14 ending balance
  • We are still missing candy money from the fundraiser.  We need to get better organized at getting the money in.
  • Discussed becoming better organized in turning in registration and fees.
  • Discussed the need to get the word out to get more people in mod.
  • Discussed taking away the fundraiser or lowering the buy out fee, or just increasing the fee by $20, along with increasing the fee somewhere else.  More money is made for mod when people buy out rather than do the fundraiser.
  • Tabled the discussion about the fundraiser until April meeting. 

***Need to send out at email to the coaches to let them know that we may possibly     change the fundraiser, so come to the April meeting if they want a say.

2nd VICE PRESIDENT OF ADMINISTRATION – Open Position

 

REFEREE COORDINATOR – Judy Simone Johnson

  • Mike Franco Recap
    • 2 bills out in the house and senate to keep referees individual contractors
    • Continue business as usual for Spring
    • Ask people to email legislator for House Bill 1457 and Senate Bill 5559-email to ask that they please support the bill http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/
  • Also discussed Kreig Eley from Sign City, Etc to possibly make signs similar to the ones for baseball, which will advertise soccer sign ups.  He will make them for cost. 
    • They are called “bootleg” signs.  Prices-
      • 18 x 24 single solid 1 color: 50@ $2.25 ($112.50) or 100@ $2.05 ($205.00)
      • 18 x 24 single solid 2 color: 50@ $2.85 ($142.50) or 100@ $2.65 ($265.00)
      • Larger size 24 x 32 doubles the above prices

 

FIELDS COORDINATOR- OPEN POSITION

 

GIRLS EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR – Bob Gonzales

  • Reported that we are well stocked on field paint, but next time we need to re order he needs more notice so it can be shipped to business, not a home, which is more expensive.
  • Need money for a broom for the storage shed, Bob will also reorganize it.
  • We will be donating U-10 goals to Boys and Girls Club/St. Vincent field.
  • There was pug goals borrowed for a tournament in Las Vegas that we need to get back.
  • We need to order more size 4 balls before Fall
  • The first game is April 15th. He will set up 2 or 3 issue dates 2 weeks prior to the game.
  • Bob has a new phone number- 517-8100

 

MATCH AND EVENT COORDINATOR:  Kristina Okezie-Did not attend

  • March 9th is the cut off for Spring registration.  March 12th is the AGM and coaches packet turn in. 
  • Coaches need to indicate on their packets whether they will want to play on Mothers Day and Fathers Day.

 

WEBMASTER – Sharon Woodford

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Discussed that the coaches packet needs to be updated.
  • “Yellow Cards” were discussed at the last Referees board meeting.  They felt that these should come from mod soccer, not the referee association.
    • We discussed different ways that we could distribute the cards to the coaches and parents.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Recapped and voted on Boys Coach of the Year.  Winner –Paul Guthrie
  • Yvette will order 4 gifts from DJ Trophy for “Of the Year” winners.  Will also order gift cert from Meme’s for manicure/pedicure

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.  Next meeting will be held on Monday, March 12th at 7:00pm at Round Table Pizza in Federal Way.  This will be our AGM.
