BOARD MEETING
MINUTES
August 13,
2007
The meeting of the Federal Way Modified Soccer Club was
called to order by Secretary Yvette Gregg at 7:09 on Monday August 13th
at Round Table Pizza in Federal Way.
The Attendees included:

Coaches: 11 coaches
A Quorum was achieved.
(A Quorum of the club shall consist of 6 (six) board members with at
least 3 (three) of them being elected officers.)
PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Stephanie Knapp-not present
VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Mary Ward-not present
SECRETARY – Yvette Gregg
Nothing to report
TREASURER – Kathy Barnes-
- Said
that the coordinators need to get the $ to her as she needs to pay certain
fees.
- Discussed
paying for the storage shed. If we
pay 12 months in advance we get one month free.
BOYS REGISTRAR – Novella Fraser-not present
- Need
to discuss whether coordinators get to receive one registration free as an
incentive to get people to volunteer.
- There was a motion to allow all appointed
chairpersons to receive one childs
registration free. Motion was 2nd
and was open for discussion. There
was a lot of discussion.
- A
second motion was introduced to allow all appointed chairpersons to
receive one child’s registration fee at half off. Motion was 2nd and was open
for discussion.
- Another
motion was introduced to table the discussion until December, to be
approved or denied at the next AGM.
Motion was 2nd, voted on, and passed.
GIRLS REGISTRAR- open position
2nd VICE PRESIDENT OF
ADMINISTRATION – Cory Zimmer
- Had
one complaint about a parent. The
parent was given different options from which they chose one and the
parent and coach is satisfied with the outcome.
- A
person was asked to coach who was only 17 years old, but fell through.
- WSYSA
came up with new rules to protect referees from assault and abuse, which
includes conversations made between parents on the sidelines.

REFEREE COORDINATOR – Judy Simone Johnson-not present
FIELDS COORDINATOR- Eric Poortvliet
- He
met with the U10 teams to get them their equipment and will be meeting
with the U8-U9 this week.
- He
talked with Perry about getting new U10 goals as they are in bad shape.

EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR – Girls-open position
EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR- Boys- Bob Gonzalez
- .Asked about how we’ve ordered in the past as he is
concerned about running out of size 4 balls. He needs to order more size 4 balls (about
100) and more standard cones.
- He will check with Stephanie because she said that
they were on the way.
- Kathy will call Gordon from Pro Time Sports to see
what deal he can give us on soccer balls.
- He also mentions that the jerseys were getting
tattered and we may need more for next season.
- We have a bunch of old soccer balls that we need to
get rid of.
- He needs to send an email to the coaches about
picking up the socks.
MATCH AND EVENT COORDINATOR: Kristina Okezie
- She is scheduling practice fields.
- She needs information on the teams, such as byes and
their strengths.
- She needs volunteers for the fields.
WEBMASTER –
Sharon Woodford-not present
NEW BUSINESS:
- A
couple of uniforms were brought to the table for approval. There was a motion to approve the red
and black uniforms. Motion was 2nd
and approved.
- There
was a suggestion to put in the handbook where the money from the
registration fees are going to.
- There
was a suggestion to have another coaches meeting.
- Jeff
Knutson who is a BU10 coach asked about the bylaw of the roster size. He has 8 players and 3 players from
another team need a team to go to and want to stay together, but Jeff only
has room for 2 more players according to the bylaws. He wanted to know if he can add all 3
players. It may be a state law that
the roster size can only be 10, which means we can’t change it. Jeff will check on the state laws and
email Cory about whether we can vote on it or not.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Cory
met with Rob to discuss what he can do for the mod soccer club.
- Rob
held a clinic at the end of July and 17 people attended, 5 or 6 of which
were from mod.
- He
handed out a list of different things that Rob was willing to do for mod
soccer.
- Rob
wants to target training the coaches, as the coaches can then get to the
kids.
- We
want Rob to schedule age group clinics for kids ASAP.
- We
want Rob to get an age group handbook out right away that has activities
for coaches to do at different age groups.
- We
want Rob to hold a U6/U7 coaches clinic.
- We
also discussed having a yearly schedule of coaches/players activities
and clinics that we can do continually on a yearly basis.
- Cory
will contact Rob as to what we want to make a priority.
GOOD OF THE GAME:
Meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm. Next meeting will be on September 10th
from 7-8:30 at Round Table Pizza in Federal Way.
