Communications:
·
January 31st is the Council meeting,
· The State plans to reorganize the Executive Board. All seven Commissioners have agreed to resign prior to AGM in preparation for new Executive Board. Waiting to hear who will be running for new Executive Board.
· Question by George Pfeiffer on whether Stu Snow has explained this to the District III Board and whether they have approved it.
Committee Reports
Calendar Committee
– Sharon Woodford:
· Revised original calendar due to PDL starting one week later so last week of games is one week later – this creates a problem because it’s the first week of state cup. Everyone has to reschedule that last game as State has every bracket starting Cup play that first weekend.
Old Business
Grant from Pete
von Reichbauer’s Office – Perry Woodford
· Applied grant money toward purchase price of goals (grant had to go to operating expenses)
· Goals benefited all three Clubs
Café Dart’e – Perry Woodford
· Café Darte – Amy at State Office wants to come talk to Association and present it this fund raising opportunity.
· Suggestion was to have State send the information via email to FWSA and we’ll email it to the members as not enough coaches/families come to the meeting to make a presentation worthwhile.
New Business
AGM – Perry
Woodford
· FWSA will not hold it’s AGM the first week of April as it’s spring break for the schools.
· Planning to hold Mod AGM March 2nd, FWU AGM March 11th , and FWSA March 25th .
· March 6th first day BU15 – BU18 Tryouts are possible so want to avoid FWU AGM on that week.
Reports
State Cup – Sharon
Woodford
· Commissioners Cup, BU15 & BU18 Challenge & Championship Cup starting this weekend.
· January 24th – PDL & GU15 – GU18 season starting so fields will be full
· January schedules done by Sandy Bjork already; she will work on February schedules this weekend.
Registrar -
Katherine Hinkle
· Busy week of transfers for state cup rosters.
· Transfers out of club – 14.
· Bonzi bill was reviewed. Bill covers State charge of $11.07 for insurance – charged: Mod 631 players (actual 635 players), FWU 1,017 (actual 1,027 players) so numbers were close.
· Rob Walker indicated that the following question was posed by the PDL group – “Would your Club be interested in exploring payment options other than Bonzi?” PDL asked if PDL clubs want to use a different on-line, non-Bonzi registration process so that we can charge on-line for fees. Team fee could be paid in this manner. Katherine Hinkle raised the concern that this would increase the time involved for the Registrar as she would then have to transfer the information into the Bonzi system, therefore, double the amount of work. It was noted that the Association/Club can use Bonzi to collect fees but Association has chosen not to do this due to fees, issues of refunds, etc. Rob Walker requested a list of issues/questions about this idea so he can report back to the PDL group and get additional information from the PDL about this issue.
· Additional comments re: credit card payment of fees: If use credit cards and player leaves part way through the season, and parents request a charge back through their credit card company, we have to reimburse them the full amount because must follow credit card rules. Other Clubs have needed accountants to monitor and resolve these issues. “Charge-backs” cost money to club.
·

· Perry Woodford stated that he will send State rule changes along with bylaw changes when sent out by the state office. Not planning to change FWSA bylaws this year.
· Rob Walker raised the issue of the waiver that was requested from the State for Rachel Markey. Juan Rangel indicated that waiver was granted to play for Reign 91 White but Juan is going to clarify that waiver was for Div. 2 team (Reign 91 Purple)
· Other waivers: Storm ‘94 Green player given OK for Cup play – does this approval go for PDL spring season? As is new to a team this year (has not played on any other team either in FWU or another club), he can play and this is not an issue.
· It was noted that Jammie Hair says “waivers” have been provided for all players that requested them.
· State didn’t change deadline of October 31st for roster movement despite teams not having spring leagues, not only fall league. Therefore, teams/players so have to “appeal” or get a “waiver” to have player put on a roster. Therefore, it’s a “transfer”. Discussed the fact that State should have clarified these rules to all Associations.
