- Fundraising
Presentation by Susan Mansanarez, Gift Bag Alley, email: giftbagalley@hotmail.com
- Three
Main Programs: 1. Catalog Shopping fundraiser; 2. Gift Card Redemption
Program; 3. Merchant Gift Card
- Gift
Card Redemption Program has gift cards in the amounts of $10, $25 &
$50. Person purchases card to support fundraiser and then uses it at
on-line store.
- Merchant
Gift Card – order specific gift card for a specific merchant (ex. Papa
John’s Pizza) – Club gets a portion of the cost of the card (range is
about $7 to $23).
- Friends
out of state can participate in these fundraisers by using the on-line
store. Items can be mailed out of state.
- Maureen
Falecki noted that she has used these fundraisers and they are easy to
do. She highly recommends them.

New Business:
Soccer Palooza
- Dates
for Soccer Palooza are May 8th & May 9th to be
held at the Seatac Hilton
- No Soccer
Fair planned for 2010 as State works through reorganization of their Board
- State
AGM will be May 10th (Mother’s Day)
- Motion
to purchase table for May 9th dinner at Soccer Palooza. Motion
seconded. Passed unanimously.
- Motion
to purchase hotel room at Hilton for May 9th following Soccer
Palooza. Motion seconded. Passed unanimously.
FWSA AGM
- Currently
scheduled for March 25th. Discussed making date later due to
later State AGM. Determined that would keep AGM on March 25th.
State Fee Increases
- State
raised fees $1; in July USSF will raise fees
- US Youth
Soccer will probably raise fees $5. US Youth Soccer wants to the 2018 or
2020 World Cup to be held in the US. They need to raise funds
to do this. If World Cup in 2020, then won’t raise fees until next year.
- Could
easily have to increase fees by $7 for FW players.
- Currently FWSA pays $11.07 in fees to the
State. This year $5 is USSF and US Youth Soccer.
- In
tough economic times, the city and school districts usually increase fees
to users so FWSA should plan for that possibility.
Electronic Fee Collection
- At the
Board meeting last month the group discussed whether the Club wants to
collect fees electronically for registration and team fees.
- Darlin’
Boudreau (FWU Treasurer) researched Bonzi on-line payment. Set up fee is
$549 which includes a website – Darlin’ has used other Club websites and
they are easy to use. If chose not to do website now and decide to do
website later, it’s $549 later just to add the website. According to Bonzi
Rep. their website is easier than Dreamweaver.
- Bonzi
fee for on-line payment is $34 /month. Other fees: $49 set-up fee for
credit cards and $29 for credit card payment and gateway per month. There
are other fees but Darlin’ did not have that information at this time.
- There
is a 40 cents fee each time credit card processes a charge. Bonzi Rep.
said “this is not per player” so is this a bundle for the days
transactions? Need to clarify.
- We can
set up by each team with their budget and the number of payments on the
Bonzi system.
- Benefits:
Allows families to use credit cards
Relieves collection issue
from Team Treasurer
- Parent
comment: parents like on-line payment because don’t use checks and it’s
easier
- According
to Perry Woodford, the Kent and Highline Club have indicated that the
on-line payments haven’t stopped the payment issue of people who are not
paying their fees
- Another
benefit is that tryout fees could be collected on-line and then players could
be rostered to a team. Coach could send mass email to selected players and
then they register under that team.
- Each
player would have to set up a new account if we do this.
Webmaster Report –
Sharon Woodford:
Earthlink upgraded our Web Hosting service last week. Unfortunately, they did not use the most
current pages when adding to the new site so I have tried to make sure all the
changes I made to the website over the last three weeks were updated
again. However, if anyone sees anything
that needs updating please e-mail me.
I am not a web designer, nor do I
want to be. Without Rick Cross’s help last
week I would not have been able to make this upgrade work. The Association needs to find a web
designer. I do not mind updating the
content but that is as far as my expertise goes.

- If a game is being played on a field that has no
bathrooms, please inform the opposing team prior to their arrival.
- No more information will be released about the new
President’s Cup until the National Convention.
- Roberto reported that Washington State
now has a reputation for having the worst coaches. The referees, especially during the
Semi’s and Final’s will start cracking down. They will adhere to a strict 3 part
process.
- Ask
(the coach to behave).
- Tell
(the coach to behave – caution).
- Remove
(the coach – send-off).
·
Each Association must provide 10 volunteers
(total) to assist at the State Cup semi and final games. I must submit this list to the State by
Friday. Currently I have only 7
volunteers.
Spring State Cups:
- There are many teams (over 100) that are still listed
as “new”, “pending”, or “incomplete”.
Tammy Snow requests all Association Registrars to please approve or
drop their teams immediately.
- The Spring State Cup Draw is scheduled for February
21st, during the Commissioners Cup finals at Starfire.
- All U11 Challenge Cup teams will be asked to fill out
an on-line questionnaire asking them if they want to be in the gold or
silver bracket. I e-mailed the U11
teams today. The submission deadline is
February 9th! Teams not submitting their request by the deadline
will be placed within the bracket by the Tournament Director
·
The State realizes that the U17 semi finals are
scheduled for the same date as SAT’s.
The State will schedule all U17 games in the later part of the
afternoon.
Director of Fields - George Pfeiffer:
- FWSA won’t
pay for Saghalie until later – working with City and will give notice to
Carl Weber prior to payment deadline.
- Question:
Do we want to work with TJ regarding use of the new turf field once it’s
completed? Discussed issue and determined that did not want to work on
that field use request.
Mod Report:
- Spring
League organized and registration occurring now.
January Council
Meeting – Perry Woodford:
- Article
on concussions. WIAA and medical organizations drafted revision to law in
WA state dealing with concussions. Any indication or thought of head
injury the player will be removed and not able to return until receive
appropriate medical release. Council wants input.
- New
programs will be in place to educate on symptoms of head trauma.
- Proposed
bylaws distributed, articles of incorporation and budget also distributed.
- State
looking for Senior Staff – Exec. Director (national search about to be
started, $95,000 salary) and Director Of Member Services (6 applied so
far)
- 6 of 7
District Commissioners will be new next year. Three year cycle of Exec.
Board (Secretary, Treasurer, President, & 4 are Dist. Commissioners)
Two District Commissioners may be pulled up to Executive Board. Stu Snow
will be moving up to Board to help with rules and policies.
- Districts
I, II, III & IV looking for new District Commissioners.
- All
Vice Presidents were in attendance at the Council meeting. It was a
well-represented meeting. Only 5 Associations were not there. Eastside was
not at the meeting which is unusual as they have never missed a meeting.
- Bylaw
proposals look OK. Articles of Incorporation are good. The AGM will
suspend Bylaws and vote in new ones.
- Perry
Woodford noted concern about new Boards for Districts I, II, and III as
those districts represent 75% of the players in the state. That means 75%
of the players will have new Commissioners.
Meeting adjourned
9:20 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Heather Hamashima
FWSA Secretary
