Meeting called to order 7:20 pm.

Open Comments: None

Communication:

  • Thank you and a review of the agenda and schedule

Fields:  Presented by George Pfeiffer

    • 65% games on turf
    • 35% games on grass
    • 78% practice on turf

George commented on the cost to build, replace, maintain, and lease fields.  The need to have Replacement plans put in place now.

Turf field’s have a life of 8-9 years.

Sacajawea is 9 years old KG 6 years Saghalie 2 Decatur 7 years Beamer 6.

In the past the association had a capital improvement field fund.  With the opening of Beamer we started down a path of paid agreements with high schools.  Reference the rental agreements with Decatur and Beamer and TJ These agreements have grown to 12,000 dollars per year.  This is approximately 40% of the fees collected each year through player registrations.  Therefore the capital fund is not growing at a rate that will sustain field replacement or development.

Capital Improvement Plans need to be a separate budget line item from annual lease and equipment.

Mod and United need to plan for increased registration fees to support a capital field fund.

Washington State Direction:

    • Perry verbally shared one vision of bringing the PDL in as the new state league and the related structural changes around mod, recreation, select and premier soccer.
    • The current PDL could become members of a regional club organization with direct representation into the state oversight committee.
    • Nothing settled with lots of discussion on where to go and how to get there.
    • Change is rampant the past year and I expect more this year.  Lead the way or react and be overrun by the change.  Where will Federal Way be in the process?
