Meeting called to order 7:10 pm.
Minutes:
Motion to
approve minutes at the following meeting. Motion passed and approved.
Public Open Comment:
No public comments.
Upcoming Events/Activities:
No special events scheduled.
Motion to
dedicate an area on the Association’s website to acknowledge those that have
dedicated years of service to our youth in the community. Motion seconded. Passed
Committee Reports:
Retreat - It
was determined that the three Boards, Association, FWU, and Mod, should meet as
a group quarterly. This has not been scheduled to date. Determined
that June, October and February meetings would be a good schedule.
Motion made to have the Association host the United and Mod Boards at the Association
meetings in June, October and February. Motion seconded. Motion passed
unanimously. June meeting will be June 4th at Secoma Lanes.
Old Business:
Goal Posts - Eric Poortviliet looked at Fold-A-Goal options. He
will give them information on our needs so they can give provide the Club with
quotes. Looking to phase-in 2 sets this year at Celebration fields #7 & #8
& one set at FWHS grass. Then 2 sets at Celebration
Fields #5 & #6 and third set for another field (possibly Lakota). Not
planning to put purchase goals for turf fields. These are not the “practice
goals” that we were talking about getting (ie not the third goal to be placed
in the middle of the field for practice use by a third team) – these are
replacements of the current goals on the indicated fields.
Looked at Challenger goals
but the fastening units were not as strong and the goals were pricey.
Organization of FWSA Discussion:
Tabled
until a later date.
New Business:
Soccer Palooza
– Unfortunately the three District III selections that were nominated by FWSA
did not win in their categories despite being exemplary candidates.
Reports:
Secretary -
No report.
Treasurer - Discussed the fact that the Mod Treasurer, Sandy
Bjork, notified the Association that the Mod Club has been over-billed for
player fees for the past two years. Carl Weber, Association Treasurer, believes
that at least $8,000 should be refunded to the Mod Club but is unsure about the
rest of the amount being discussed. There are discrepancies in numbers on the
Bonzi system and numbers between the Clubs and the State do not match.
Katherine Hinkle, Association
Registrar, indicated that there are 348 players pending & approved in the
FWU group. She ran a detailed report that indicated 346 players. The Bonzi bill
for March 24th – April 24th had 225 players. The Club
pays for every registered player if on the system for more than a month (fee is
$2.25 per player).
Mod Club did not use the
on-line system this spring for registration so have accurate numbers.
Discussed providing Mod with
a refund now of $8,244 now and then continuing the discussion.
Budget -
Discussed
yearly budget. Katherine Hinkle, FWSA Registrar, presented
player figures for 2008 season: 1065 FWU players, 719 Mod = 1784 so close to
1800 players. George Pfeiffer suggested budget based on 750. If player count
goes down, then field fund goes down.
Motion to
approve budget as written. Seconded. Motion passes unanimously.
Registrar:
There are difficulties with
the Mod registration – Bonzi not rolling dates forward – but these are being
addressed with Bonzi staff. Same thing happened with FWU. Have added notes to
the parents on the registration page to assist with the process and improve the
directions on what step is next.
2nd VP of Administration:
Not report.
Fields:
No report
Referee:
The Referee Association will
make a presentation to Mod Coaches on Monday, as well as U11- U13 non-select
coaches. Suggestion made that referees explain being in an offside position but
not offside.
Webmaster:
Working on moving teams to
next year age bracket on website. Girls done, next will be the Storm and non-select teams. Indicated
that will put photos that teams sent to her on website.
State Cup:
Completed. Talking about moving Challenge Cup back to
Commissioners Cup in Feb./March and only leave State
Cup in April. District VI says it’s good for them due to not wanting to play outside
at that time. Discussion of making all Cups open to everyone.
Discussion of moving girls’ season later. Comments on
state cup send to Sharon Woodford as the wrap-up meeting has not been held. George
Pfeiffer noted that in his opinion the Challenge Cup doesn’t need to be in
compressed time – except to finish in time for tryouts.
Mod Club:
Heather Hamashima reported
that the spring season went well with over 300 participants.
Coaches
meeting on Monday for Mod coaches to discuss fall registration. The Mod Soccer Camp directed by Rob Walker is set for
the end of June. Brochures were handed out to all spring Mod participants.
Good of the Game:
Lots of positive comments
about Mod spring league.
Decatur use agreement is up. Will look at more time on fields in spring especially weeknights in
April/May. George Pfeiffer rying to get more usage at
Decatur.
FWHS field should have new
turf completed this summer. It’s field turf – better than Beamer and Decatur.
TJ has drainage issues – no bids in budget with regard to placing turf on that
field. School district wants use of Grosch, Saghalie, and Sacajawea. George Pfeiffer
says 5:00 pm is stop time for the schools to use the fields.
Computer
for Registrar. Discussed the fact
that Association Registrar should have a laptop computer for use – could also
be used for registration nights by FWU and Mod Club and other activities as
needed. Eric Poortvliet volunteered to assist in researching computers and
software, such as Excel and Powerpoint. Need wireless card for remote access.
Erik Poortvliet will ask for input on items to include in the purchase and then
send within a week a proposal to everyone.
Meeting adjourned 8:54pm
Respectfully submitted,
Heather Hamashima
FWSA Secretary
