President’s Report – Perry Woodford:

This has been an amazing year for FWSA.  The PDL, that United is a member of, has really changed the face of soccer in WSYSA and provided administrative challenges.  The GU15 and above move to a winter/spring schedule of 10 games has kept many people busy and again offered up administrative challenges with registration, moving state cups and May instead of March tryout dates.  What will change next?  The mod club has changed many of the board members and we see Mod and United working together to build the organization.  The new Mod Spring league with a camp academy format instead of teams is great to see and the participant numbers are very close to the last years “normal” spring league.  We had United teams show interest in a spring league run by Kent.  We held our first retreat.  It was a success and thank you to Doxon Toyota for a large donation to the Blast Off to help us on our way.

I am the District 3 representative to the Player Development League.  These duties have made it harder for me to focus on the needs of our organization.  This league is going through significant growing pains and the committee and league will be reformulated this year.  This will allow me more time for our clubs but will highly likely reduce the amount of information and influence I will have on the direction of youth soccer.

The presidents meeting with the Mod and United presidents to provide an avenue for direct communication and find ways to better utilize our resources and build a better bridge between the clubs and association did not work as planned.  We did not meet formally.  I believe the reason is too many other issues and meetings and that we are indirectly meeting by all being at the other meetings….

We met twice with the referees to open dialogue with the intention to better the relationship and begin working together to solve some common issues.  More meetings are being discussed.  The issues we want to work on are developing more adult referees, rewarding referees, and game scheduling.

For 2008 I will be working with the association by supporting George in field upgrades and maintenance.  Our challenges for time are growing.  Continuing transition and integration of the DoC, Mod, United, and referee programs into a model of player and staff development will keep me and many of you busy.    We need to pick up the pace of evolving into the organization we want to be as well as review where we started and where we are to see if we are following the path.  Do we really need three separate organizations, with 3 presidents, and three treasurers.  For some activities and duties, yes, for others, maybe, and for a few maybe, not.  Is there a better way to separate the structure and bring us closer in developing and playing our game with better utilization of our volunteers?   Other areas I am asked about by the district and WSYSA are soccer start for minority and diversity playing programs and TopSoccer for the disabled players.

The ideas and past of working in a small environment are changing and cooperation across clubs, associations, and districts are looking to be a must to provide the opportunity to our players to participate in the appropriate league, level, or ability.

Vice President’s Report – Jammie Hair

  • No report

Secretary’s Report – Heather Hamashima:

  • No report

Treasurer’s Report – Carl Weber:

  • FWSA was under budget this year.
  • This year there were more billing charges than we have players. However, the bill from the State vs. our records is getting closer. Hoping for better reconciliation this year. If bill and numbers don’t match, will need to take out the difference from the Field Fund.
  • Budget for the coming year will be presented in May.

2nd Vice President of Administration – Robert Lewis:

  • Have only been in this position for three weeks so no report.

Registrar – Katherine Hinkle:

  • Waiting for state tools access from Mary Warren.
  • On-line registration for fall season is now open.
  • Will look into the Bonzi item that indicates the registrant “owes $1.”
  • Updating notes on Bonzi registration page in order for directions to be more clear to registrants.

FWU Representative – Jesse Hamashima:

  • The Club is grateful for new volunteers.

Fields Coordinator – George Pfeiffer:

  • It’s been a great year. There is a new turf field at Saghalie. In August work started on Lake Geneva. The school district will begin work on the FWHS stadium in August and it should be completed by December.
  • We have done a better job of using all the fields.
  • Goals continue to be an issue.
  • Dropping the idea of purchasing the YMCA land and building due to $1.5 billion price tag.

Mod Representative – Heather Hamashima:

  • Have new volunteers on the Board, new format for spring league and very good meetings.
  • The U10 Transition Team worked hard with U10 families and did a wonderful job – thank you!

Webmaster – Sharon Woodford:

  • I have tried to keep the website up to date.  I have to wait until early May before I can roll the FWU teams up because the GU15-GU18 teams are still playing.

State Cup Representative – Sharon Woodford:

All of the State Cups have finished except for the GU15-GU18 Challenge and Championship Cups.  We have 5 FWU teams who will be participating in those Cups.

We had 6 teams participating in the Commissioners Cup.  The BU15 Storm 92 White made it to the Semi Finals and the BU14 Warriors were finalists.

We had 13 teams participating in the Challenge Cup.  BU14 Storm 93 White, BU17 Storm 90 made it to the quarter finals and the GU14 Reign 93 White made it to the semi finals.

We had 7 teams participating in the Championship Cup.  The BU13 Storm 94 Green, GU12 Reign 95 Purple, and the GU14 Reign 93 Purple made it to the elimination round.  The BU14 Storm 93 Green and the GU13 Reign 94 Purple made it to the quarter finals.

Calendar Committee – Sharon Woodford:

I was appointed the Calendar Committee Chair Person and the committee (Katherine Hinkle, Darlin’ Boudreau, Novella Fraser and me) met once to discuss dates for the 2008/2009 year.  In the next week I plan to purchase new calendar software that I can post Club/Association/Registration/Treasurer calendars.
