Meeting Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m.  

1. Minutes were not voted on.

2. Open Comment: Alvin, a parent from a BU9 team, attended and was glad to learn more about FWSA.

3. Communication, Recognition,  Upcoming Events and Activities:

Ø      5 teams are in the President Cup Semi and finals matches. The BU16 Hornets and GU13 Fury are playing in championship matches on Saturday.  GU11 Xtreme and BU15 Ravens are playing in the semi-finals this Saturday.

Ø      State Cup draw on December 8.  Results will be posted on December 14.

Ø      State Cups start in January.

4. Committee Reports

            Retreat: Heather Hamashima, Rob Walker and George Pfeiffer offered comments on the December 2nd Retreat.  Consensus was that it was a positive event.  The challenge is to document what we created and heard and prepare plans to prioritize and address the issues, as well as recognize the positives.

 

            The January 2nd Board meeting will not be held. The FWSA January meeting will be a joint meeting with the Boards of United, Mod and the Association to discuss the Retreat in depth and plan for the future based on material from the Retreat.  Date will be later in the month.

5. Old Business

            The school district procured goals similar to what was removed from Sacajawea.  This will require the field to be repainted.

6.  New Business

USYouth Soccer has changed the forms for the Of the year Awards for 2007.  The coaches have been split into competitive and non-competitive and new categories for goal and save of the year have been added.

The Board determined the following as recipients of the FWSA yearly awards:

Boys Competitive coach of the year George Pfeiffer

Girls Competitive coach of the year Scott Nelson

Boys Non- Competitive coach of the year Ryan Tolmich

Girls Non-Competitive coach of the year Cindy Flanagan

Volunteer of the Year Eric Poortvliet

Administrator of the Year Sharon Woodford

 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT- WSYSA is changing the name to WYS, Washington Youth Soccer.

 

VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Excused

TREASURER’S REPORT- Excused

 

REGISTRAR’S REPORT- No Report

 

RISK MANAGEMENT - No Report

 

2nd VP of ADMINISTRATION  It is time to be thinking of by law changes.  However, with the changes and proposed changes that are anticipated from WSYSA it may be best to wait on significant changes and only revise what is needed to operate the organization.

 


FIELD’S REPORT – Need to evaluate the use and cost of the stadium.  The prices are up this year and the invoice of close to 500 dollars for 3 games needs further discussion.

 

FW MOD – No report. 

 

FW UNITED - No report

 

DISTRICT 3 REPORT

Ø      Of the Year awards moved to January District 3 meeting.

Ø      Topsoccer event at Starfire Saturday December 7 from 1 to 5.

Ø      There will be a free referee clinic for adults on January 18-20 at Starfire.  There is a 35 dollar fee if you want to receive the badge.  Passing the course would allow you to referee and be paid in WSYSA.

Ø      All District 3 fees are paid to WSYSA.  The first district to complete payment.

Ø      With all the changes going on we may want to wait a year before adjusting the district girls U15 and above to the spring.

 

WEBMASTER -  No Report

 

REFEREE REPORT – No Report

 

TOURNAMENT CHAIR –

State Cup Draw on December 8 at 7 PM in the state office.  The plan is different than last year where the computer pulled the teams and placed them.  Not sure what this means.

 

GOOD OF THE GAME-  A discussion on sending someone to the National Convention was held and the decision was to follow the guideline set forth last year of attending every other year.
